What is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is the study of human movement. Registered Kinesiologists (R.Kin) are regulated health professionals who are accountable to the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario. These professionals have in-depth knowledge in the topics of anatomy and physiology, injury prevention, nutrition, exercise and disease management, biomechanics and behaviour change.
Also regarded as the science of ‘human movement as medicine’, providing evidence-based, customized exercise and education programs to increase quality of life. Empowering individuals to take health into their hands. Registered Kinesiologists are Ontario’s recognized experts in preventing and managing injury and chronic disease and helping to relieve chronic pain through movement.
Why Choose Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is for anyone who desires change. It's for those of us who know WHAT we want to achieve but need assistance to implement changes.
For example: I WANT to reduce my blood pressure through education, exercise and lifestyle choices that I can have customized for me so I can reduce dependence on medication*.
It is also for those of us who need to know the HOW and are not sure where to start but want to make sustainable changes to achieve health/fitness goals. For example: I was diagnosed with diabetes and need to learn to manage it but have no idea how to get started.
Unique to the fitness industry, Kinesiologists are qualified to work with clients who have health conditions (such as pregnancy, depression, diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, COPD etc.) and musculoskeletal injuries. Kinesiologists are able to help engage clients in an active approach to their health through the prevention and management of their condition through lifestyle management strategies including nutrition, stress management and exercise.
(please do not make any changes to your lifestyle or medications without consulting your primary healthcare practitioner).
